Check Your Surveillance Exposure in 60 Seconds
How many cameras are within walking distance of your home? Here’s how to find out.
Step 1: Open the map
Go to symvek.com/sentinel/map. The map loads with 498,500+ surveillance records across 183 countries.
Step 2: Search your address
Type your address (or any address) in the search bar and press Enter. The map flies to that location and zooms in.
Step 3: Read the results
The “What’s watching you” panel shows:
- Total cameras within 1 kilometer
- Camera types broken down (CCTV, ALPR, speed, facial recognition, etc.)
- Closest camera with type and distance
Step 4: Filter by type
Use the filter buttons to toggle camera types on and off. Try turning off CCTV and Speed to see only the more invasive types: ALPR readers, facial recognition, cell-site simulators.
Step 5: Check your commute
Search your workplace address too. The surveillance on your daily commute is the most consistent exposure you have.
What the numbers mean
- 0-5 cameras within 1km: Low surveillance density (rural or residential)
- 5-20 cameras: Moderate (typical suburban area)
- 20-50 cameras: High (typical urban area)
- 50-100 cameras: Very high (downtown, transit hubs)
- 100+ cameras: Extreme (central London, major US cities)
Your privacy commitment
Sentinel runs entirely in your browser. We never know what you searched. The camera database downloads to your browser and all lookups happen locally. No server sees your address.
